Rail Transit
Attendees can access rail transit Line 2 at Qingshuipu Station (located at the university’s North Gate). Tianyi Pavilion Museum
Situated on the west bank of Moon Lake in Ningbo, the Tianyi Pavilion Museum is a national 5A-level tourist attraction and a key cultural relic site under state protection. At its heart lies the Tianyi Pavilion, the oldest existing private library in China and one of the world’s three oldest libraries kept by a family. Built between 1561 and 1566 during the Ming Dynasty by Fan Qin, a high-ranking military official, the library was designed with ingenious fire-prevention measures inspired by The Book of Changes, including a pond connected to Moon Lake and bookcases corresponding to the concepts of “six” and “one”. Today the museum houses nearly 300,000 ancient books, of which 80,000 are rare volumes, with particular renown for its Ming Dynasty local chronicles and imperial examination records. The museum also encompasses the Chen Ancestral Hall, which displays the origin of Mah-jong, and the Qin Ancestral Hall, celebrated for its unique architectural design. A public institution dedicated to the art of book collecting, the Tianyi Pavilion Museum welcomes visitors from around the world to experience its exquisite Jiangnan gardens and centuries-old cultural heritage.
Ningbo Bang Museum
Located at the southern end of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge in Zhenhai District, Ningbo, the Ningbo Bang Museum is a thematic humanities museum dedicated to the legendary merchant group known as the Ningbo Bang (Ningbo Fellowship). Officially opened on October 22, 2009, the museum covers an area of 70 mu with a construction area of approximately 24,000 square meters. Its main architectural complex is shaped like the Chinese character “甬,” the abbreviated name for Ningbo, fully embodying the cultural character of the Ningbo Bang—rooted in tradition while pioneering innovation. The museum’s architectural design was overseen by He Jingtang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Systematically tracing the epic journey of Ningbo merchants from the late Ming Dynasty to the present, the museum showcases their remarkable achievements in finance, commerce, and industry, while honoring the contributions of 116 Chinese academicians from Ningbo. As a spiritual home for Ningbo natives both at home and abroad, the museum serves not only as a repository of history but also as an emotional landmark that celebrates the enduring entrepreneurial spirit and profound devotion to their hometown of the Ningbo Bang.
